I wanted a compact unit like this for my little teardrop trailer.It was not advertised as a 12 volt TV, which was a surprise.And course with a cube of power at 12V, which runs regular 120 volt house current. I use a 12V plug that fits in a 12V outlet (cig lighter socket-type plug) to power this unit, and it is perfect for me.I want to let the unit indoors over the winter because the LCD could be damaged if it is allowed to freeze solid in our winters. I use it mainly for its radio and DVD features, but the digital TV capability is very good, too.I am not always in a good area for TV reception where I camp, though..
